The 2010 edition of the P&O Irish Sea Tour of the North will again take to the roads of Northern Ireland over the Easter weekend Friday 2nd – Monday 5th April.
The event is the biggest of its type in Northern Ireland, promoted by the Northern Ireland Cycling Federation, and attracts over 100 top cyclists from across Ireland, the UK and Europe.
“We are delighted with the entry for this year,” said Event Organiser Anthony Mitchell announcing details of this year’s race.
“Once again Rapha-Condor-Sharp are sending a strong team to challenge last years winner Martyn Irvine, who himself lines up with a new Planet-X backed team and we also have entries from Dutch outfit Westland Cycling Team, WV de Kaanibaal and Belgians Decock Sportivo. The newly formed Team Herbalife-Wheelbase squad from England will also be ones to watch over the weekend.
We have attracted another top class field to Northern Ireland again next year, the 46th running of the race which has been gaining larger following and press coverage every year.”
The race takes place over four days, getting underway with a short Time Trial stage in the grounds of Stormont Castle in Belfast on Good Friday evening, April 2nd at 6.30pm.
The race has undergone some major changes for 2010, with the loss of the Sunday morning Time Trial, to be replaced with longer stages throughout the weekend, making for a longer, tougher event.
The competition leaders Jerseys have also been revamped with the P&O Irish Sea Yellow Jersey the main target for the 110 riders who will take to the roads at Easter.
